Uffizi Gallery & the Wonders of Florence Tour – The great minds of the past...
This walking tour through Florence begins outside of the magnificent Franciscan Basilica of Santa Croce. What separates this church from many others in Italy is, Santa Croce is the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians in history; the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and may more lay in peace, side by side in the sumptuous basilca.
Having experianced the grandure of Piazza Santa Croce and we then head towards the Uffizi Gallery; One of the oldest and most famous galleries in the world. Its awe-inspiring collection includes works of art by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto and Botticelli amongst many others. Our Florentine guide will lead you through the seemingly endless corridors while stopping at the best and most interesting pieces offering full and comprehensive explanations of these iconic works.
Next up is Pitti Palace; situated on the south of the river Arno, just a very short distance from the Ponte Vecchio, this Renaissance palace was once the grand residence of the Medici family (Florence’s most famous family). Having appreciated it's glorious and larger than life architecture from the outside, we then make our way to our last stop, Santo Spirito.
Piazza Santa Spirito is one of the most delightful squares in Florence. The monastery and beautiful church of situated in the square became one of the most important religious centers in the city. Like many of the most famous piazzas in Florence, this is also full of wine bars, shops, restaurants and gelaterias making it the perfect location to conclude the tour.
